VacationVacation Package Reservations
Vacation packages are often preferred by many families and tourists because of convenience and possible savings. They are often offered by travel agents who might be able to find discounts because of their connection and agreement with various airlines, hotels, car and other travel companies.
But there are certain blunders anyone could encounter in their vacation package reservations. These often comes from wrong assumptions and thinking. To help you avoid spending too much or not getting what you want on a vacation package, the following are common mistakes a vacationer would do in dealing with vacation packages:
1. "The savings are clearly indicated" - this can happen if you are booking a package online. Travel reservation websites will provide information on how much you can save in their website. Their claim do not mean this is the best rate possible. Check for other prices in other travel reservation websites.
2. "Affordable Package" - a vacation package isn't always affordable. You are assured of convenience since you booked them in a single itinerary but you are never assured that it's the best price possible. Check the total amount in separate booking first so that you'll get the best price possible.
3. "Package Canceling" - the cancellation policy for airlines, hotels and cars could be different even though they are booked as one. Talk to your travel agent regarding the cancellation policy of the package to avoid future inconvenience.
4. "Car Reservation" - your car reservation is confirmed with the car company. But the actual model of the car is never assured. The travel agency, who tries to save on reservation, only forwards the number of expected passengers and "requests." This means the accessories, make and model of the car can be offered if they are available.
5. "Hotel Reservation" - this is rare event but can happen to you especially on a peak season. Some hotels can be overbooked that you could be confirmed but will not have any room for the night. Call the hotel at least 48 hours before check in time to confirm your reservation.
6. "Paying a Better Deal" - there are those who put themselves in great financial trouble for a single vacation package. Avoid this situation by paying half of the package first and the rest later. This can help you budget your money or even save enough for the next payment.
7. "Online Reservation" - never forget to check the documentation required for travel. This is true if you're traveling outside the country. For example, a passport is a must in all travels outside the country.
8. "Paying in Advance" - you need to bring enough money during your vacation. Aside from shopping, the money you bring can be used for security deposits in hotels and car reservations.
9. "Booking Date" - you have to be a bit paranoid in booking a vacation package in terms of checking the date of reservation. Before paying for everything, recap the reservation to your friends and family to ensure you have booked on the right dates.
10. "Everyone is coming" - before you book your vacation package; make sure that everyone who will be part of the vacation package is amenable with the schedule. These packages are difficult to cancel largely because of the exorbitant penalties so it is better not to confirm anyone before booking the vacation package.
