VacationTips on Saving during Summer Camp
You send your kids to summer camp every year and you probably spend thousands of dollars per kid. Although you do not want to be cheap when it comes to the development of your kid(s), you have to be practical nowadays so that you will have some funds left for other things.
Here are some tips that you can use to help your children have a great time during summer camp without having to sacrifice your budget for the rest of the year:
. 1. Early enrollment – Before summer starts, shop around for the best summer camp that you think for your kids. Usually, summer camps offer discounts for “early birds” so you should grab the opportunity of enrolling to get the most discount. Just be sure you have talked to your kids regarding summer camp or else the money you paid for enrollment would be nothing. There are summer camps that might offer great discounts but they could be non-refundable so read the conditions before signing up for better discounts.
. 2. More kids, the better – Summer camps would also give discounts to parents that have brought in more than one kid. If you only have one kid, you can look for another parent or your kid’s classmate so that you can enroll as a group. It could be possible that you will get a good discount since you came in as a group. On the other hand, you could also gain discounts or rebates when you refer a kid to the summer camp.
. 3. Double check their policy – Oftentimes additional funds comes from the fact that you did not read the terms and conditions. There are parents who signs up their kids to summer camps without even reading the terms and conditions. As we have already indicated, the refund policy in summer camps differ so any change of mind could or could not be granted. Other fees that you might end up paying could be additional assistance that your children may require. Be sure to read what charges that you will have in case you have special arrangements for your children.
. 4. Help the camp – If you do not have a job during summer or you have free time during the summer days, volunteer to your kid’s summer camp. Administrators of the summer camp would be more than happy to have volunteers help them during activities, day-in and day-out. Not only you will be able to monitor your kids, you might be granted with a discount. Who knows? You could be a full time summer camp aid and earn every summer.
. 5. Consider payment options – Summer camps are now extending their payment options. If you do not have the funds right now, ask the camp if they have installment options. There are camps that accept credit which means you will be able to arrange payments to the bank. On the other hand, you can ask to pay only a small amount during enrollment and pay the remaining before the camp ends. As much as possible look for a summer camp with credit card options for better arrangement with the bank.
. 6. Financial aid – Because of the worsening economic conditions, a lot of summer camps have been granted to accept kids under the summer camp scholarship. There is no special training required or education from you kids as this is often offered to families that might not be able to afford it. Check with your local authorities and summer camps on if you could qualify and how you could obtain this type of scholarship. You might be eligible for a good subsidy which means lesser fees to pay for your kid’s summer camp.
