Stay Away from Unnecessary Insurance Policies

You may have encountered countless insurance agents as well as telemarketers trying to sell you insurance. Their intention, of course, is to earn commissions from that sale but that type of insurance could provide you just with the assistance you need. But most type of insurance policies offered to consumers right now is unnecessary when you take a second look at it.

Aside from the waste of money, it’s also a waste of time processing these insurance policies which might not even provide the coverage that you are expecting.

Insurance agents and telemarketers have found relative success in selling insurance policies through fear. They often paint a scenario wherein you would find yourself helpless financially and the only preventive measure for a financial disaster is through an insurance policy. Fear is a raw emotion that will always make you panic. If you are not aware of your actions, you might end up signing up for an insurance policy that’s completely worthless in the long run.

Evaluate Your Lifestyle

Learn how to evaluate your surroundings and lifestyle before you sign up for any insurance policy. Depending on your lifestyle, you’ll be able to select the type of insurance that’s mostly related to your daily activities. If you are cautious, you should know which insurance policies you would need since certain events will most likely happen but they are totally unpredictable.

Your family members’ lifestyle should also be evaluated. If you have kids, there are certain arrangements in your insurance policies that you should change as soon as possible. But these arrangements usually don’t come with additional insurance policies as some of these could be completely unnecessary.

Insurance Policies that you Might not Need

There are certain insurance policies that are irrelevant no matter what your lifestyle is. Here is a short list of policies you should be aware of:

1. Extended Warranties – personally, the number one scam of appliance stores. Extended warranties are nothing more than extra money for supposed to be an extended warranty. But these are not warranties but a new insurance from another provider. The terms and conditions are usually not provided since you’re thinking that you have a warranty all along.

2. Auto Collision for a 2nd Hand Car – never get this insurance policy. You are practically paying for nothing. A 2nd hand car is very affordable and when it gets damaged, the price of another 2nd hand car is almost the same as repairing them. Your annual payment could have been paid for an extra 2nd hand car.

3. Flight Insurance – this is very applicable when you are flying domestic. Flight insurance will only provide you assistance during flight and never after or before the flight. If (God forbid) that something bad to you happens during the flight, your health care and life insurance will take care of you. It’s a common misconception that flight insurance will provide you coverage when you change or cancel your flight plans.

4. Waterline Insurance – the first time I heard this when I was seeking help for the broken waterline. This type of insurance will require you to pay for annually to take care of your waterline. The good news is that your waterline will never breakdown easily if you are living in a nice neighborhood. The only reason you might need waterline insurance is when you purposely destroy your waterline continuously.

5. Life Insurance for Your Children – your kids aren’t sick and they are never dying. If they do, insurance companies will deny you this type of insurance policy.

Do not give in to fear mongering of insurance agents and telemarketers. Know your environment and lifestyle to have the right insurance which will help you save money.
