With the right funds, you can slowly establish your business even though you are not earning yet.
• Can you start small? – A small business is often thought as a small shop on a rented area in the mall. If you’re just starting to understand the business, think micro-level. Start in your home or in an area where you don’t have to spend extra except on your materials.
• Do you understand the business? – Before you start your business, make sure you understand the industry. There are variables or factors within the industry that you should understand since these factors can cause the success or failure of your business.
• Do you have a business plan? – do not think that your business will just be on “selling stuff”. Create a business plan so that you’ll know how you can succeed or at least monitor your progress. Your business plan doesn’t have to be very extensive; a simple business plan which could serve as your guide should be enough.
• What is your edge? – Competition is fierce in small business. Before you start your small business, you have to make sure that you have a visible edge over your competition. This edge will help you stand out in competition so that you will be noticed by more customers.
• Have you taken cared of your business permits? – Even though your business is small, it is important to have your business registered. It might cost you extra hundreds of dollars but this is necessary to protect your business from scams and prove to your customers that you offer legitimate products and services.
• Do you need to hire employees? – Employees could considerably help you in your business but it can cost you in the long run. Consider the gains and losses in terms of money that you will encounter when you hire employees for your business.
• Do you have an efficient marketing plan? – Marketing is essential in the progress of small business. Create an efficient marketing plan first so that you can be noticed faster. Be creative in order to avoid spending too much on marketing. It’s a bad idea to spend too much on marketing only to see your business tank.
• Do you have boundaries? – Your small business could temp you to overwork yourself just to succeed. Before you start, know when you need to rest a little bit. This will help you address stress and think clearly to help you succeed in a small business.
• Do you like the industry? – Don’t force yourself to be part of a business if you don’t like the industry since this will lead frustration. If you like the industry, your interest will still be there which will help you look for ways on how to succeed in your small business.
