5. A trip to the country is essential - there is a common misconception for business that they can just use a webcam for video conferencing to ensure proper business relations. But even though you're only a medium sized business with limited resources, you have to show to your international partners that you mean business - by physically showing up in various meetings.
6. Consistent updates - when working with international partners, it's always necessary that consistent updates are followed. You and your business partner should provide updates on their respective assignments in a timely manner. This will give you and your partner the information needed to eventually succeed.
7. Immerse yourself to the culture - when visiting your partner's country, learn as much as you can about their culture. Don't just limit yourself to business meetings. Get out once in a while and enjoy the surroundings. Learn more about their important places and even have a night out to know how your partner relaxes after a day's work.
8. Be smart in choosing the right partner - there may be times that you visit the country to look for a partner or client. Before you visit the country, make sure that you already have talked with the persons you need to meet.
9. Meet as many employees as possible - you don't have to limit yourself to business managers and owners. Insist that you want to talk to the workforce in order to know them better. This will help you know more about the operations and even boost the workforce with your visit.
10. Aim for long term relationship - international business transactions is never an affordable venture. Always aim for a long term business relationship because this is the only way that you can recoup your expenses. There might be some bumps along the way but as long as you fix the problems fast, you can maintain the business relationship and succeed.
