Business Podcasting Tips

Podcasting is a relatively new media online. It has existed for many years and used by many private individuals and businesses to boost their reputation online. The tool is also a good way to reach out to customers and address their concerns.

But podcasting can also lead to some trouble if they are not properly done. Podcasting for business should be done to inform without really having to bore your audience.

The following are some ideas on how to create a good podcast which will eventually help your business:

1. Invest a little bit - most tips you'll find online is that you can start a podcast with a standard computer microphone and a recording application. Invest a little bit more by purchasing better computer microphones in order to prevent hissing sounds from being recorded. Other equipments such as a relatively better computer speaker are also recommended.

2. Practice with the recording application - the beauty of your podcast can be greatly determined on how good you are in using the application. The only way to improve the use of the application is constantly use it and experiment the application on various functions.

3. Prepare your topic - recording your podcast is actually the easy part. Preparing for the podcast is the challenging part. You have to make sure you know what you will talk about during the podcast so that you don't end up stuttering and searching for information in the middle of the podcast.

4. Outline your podcast - a good way to ensure smooth transition from one topic to another is to write an outline. By writing what you have to talk about, you should be able to organize your thoughts even during the podcast. You could even make notes to make sure you can emphasize some points during the podcast.

5. Get a friend - a one-man podcast is not really a problem but it can lead boredom as you continue to talk without really having a conversation. Get a friend or an officemate so that you can have a conversation type podcast.

6. Have fun - a good way to improve your podcast is to simply have fun doing it. Your audience will sense tiredness in your voice. Make sure you are in a light mood so that you will be able to entertain while inform your listeners.

7. Careful on music - before using any music that you did not create, ask permission from the producers or record label. That's a lot of paperwork and funds so it's not a good idea to use popular music. There are royalty-free sounds and music you can use online which can be used for podcasts without additional fees.

8. Invite listener's participation - constantly ask your listener's to send an email to ask questions or comment in some information you give in your podcast. It's a good part of your podcast since your audience will know that you do care for what they think.

9. Create a weekly segment - a segment doesn't have to be a musical or anything entertaining. A segment can be a review of a product, a weekly email or simply the latest news about the industry. By creating segments, you should be able to use something "special" from time to time that will interest the listeners.

10. Learn from other podcasts - a good way to learn about proper podcasting for business purposes is to learn from other podcasts. There are hundreds, even thousands of podcasts free for download anytime. Listen to popular podcasts and learn techniques. Use what you learn to develop a unique yet entertaining podcast for your listeners.
