After Termination Assistance

Job loss will leave a great dent to your finances. But that does not mean you cannot do anything about it. You need to know your options in terms of government and non-government assistance so that the effects of job loss can be minimized.

Because of recession, job loss will not only let you deal with daily expenses, you also have to deal with inflation which could easily increase the prices of basic commodities. If you do not know any options available, you can easily get depressed and lose hope in getting out of recession.

Assistance for Unemployment

As soon as you are terminated from you job, seek help from the unemployment office immediately. This should be done as soon as possible so that you can get the help you need by the time the check arrives. Do not expect that the money will be more than enough to let you enjoy your previous whims, the money will be good enough for your daily needs.

If you are nearly or already over the retirement age and was terminated from work, there is a special program for advance aged adults in most major cities. Do not hesitate to ask for their assistance as they will provide help in gaining employment, or process your benefits. Ask the unemployment agency about the non-government organization’s data.

Another assistance that you will require fast is to deal with your debt. Government assistance is now available for loan medication. This process is a little bit tricky since assistance is only given to those who really need them. Be sure to make your point by bringing documentations for further assistance.

Assistance for Source of Funds

Do not be contented with just what you have today. By asking the government too much, you are limiting yourself through dole outs.

As much as possible look for jobs that can get you hired immediately. Seeking employment in larger companies is always a dream and not just a walk in the park. But instead of barking at the wrong tree, look for a simple source of income right now.

A part-time job is highly recommended since it will still provide the daily needs of your family without having to deal with your hobbies.

Another advantage in seeking a part-time job is the increased dedication to certain activities. Since you are only working four hours a day, you can still spend the rest of the afternoon by doing things that you really want.

Healthcare Assistance

One of the biggest concerns of those who were just terminated from work is to continue their healthcare programs. Usually, the assistance from healthcare ends right your termination or a month or two from the last day of work. But whatever the reason is, you need to seek assistance fast.

Unfortunately, this assistance is only open to those who are married and their partner still has a job. These are called the “special enrollment plan".  You need to ask for “special enrollment” as soon as possible because you are only given 90 days to process this form of coverage.

If your qualifications do not match the requirements for special enrollment plans, there are still other options. COBRA, Medicaid and related services should give you the assistance that you need for healthcare.

For COBRA the payment is only one time but you have to pay them immediately after your job loss. On the other hand, Medicaid could be purchased through installment but it has an earning requirement.

It is always important to know your options during this time of financial crisis. Your knowledge is your only tool to protect you and your family from further financial trouble.
