Proper Money Mentality for More Savings

We always have money to spend even though we find ourselves struggling sometimes with our budget. There are times that we are under great stress because we can’t seem to find a way to have a good way of getting our money in tune with the budget and save money in the end. We are always pressured to save since the reality requires us to do so.

If you’re having these feelings, don’t you think you are giving yourself a very hard time to save? The pressure and the stress is just too much that even if we even get a chance to save, the feeling of gratification may just be hindered once again if we face the same situation. We have to be happy about or money by focusing with what we have and not with what we can’t have. We have to change our money mentality fast.

Money mentality in its barest idea refers to our thinking about money. Most of the time, our frustration about money is not on the actual savings but on how we treat money. We have to overcome some of our stereotype regarding money and treat it with something different. This way, not only we’ll be satisfied with the money we have but in the end save as much as possible for any reason that we want.

Mentality # 1: Monthly Payment vs. Total Cost

When we want to buy something, our tendency is to think about the monthly payment that entails with the purchase. Get over that mentality and think about the total cost that you’ll be paying. There are situations that we consider the total cost and the monthly payments but this is just the same in paying monthly. Think about the total cost of the product and decide if you can afford it or not with or without the monthly payments.

Mentality # 2: Affordability vs. Need

Something that’s very affordable doesn’t mean we have to buy it. There are thousands of products available in the market and they cost dirt cheap. But still these products are not for us and we don’t need them in any way. Always think about the need before going for the want. Money spent on cheap things becomes a liability not only that we don’t need them but their shelf life is shorter than sturdier and more expensive products. You’re just wasting your money instead of saving something.

Mentality # 3: Raise vs. Budget

We all wanted to a better salary always. When we go up in our career ladder which of course translates to better pay, we eventually find ourselves wanting more. When we always wanted to have more, we find ourselves always dissatisfied with what we have. Instead of aiming for a raise, do the best you can do and budget your money to the things you want. Doing your job well will still get you places and you can do that without even pressuring yourself for more money to buy things.

Mentality # 4: Highest Salary vs. Life Comfort

Most of the time, our career path is suggested by money. But this shouldn’t be the case. We might have all the money in the world but if we don’t have time for ourselves, everything will be nothing. Instead of going for the money, consider a job that could give you the comforts you have a little savings in every month. If we go to the highest price, we find ourselves often toiling so hard that we don’t have time for anything. You may have the most money in the world but you don’t even have a single second to spend it.
