Saving Money in Childcare

We all wanted the best for our children but the best are always very expensive that we often think twice of getting it. We usually end up with a compromise so that we could at least have something for our children that will help them develop mentally, physically and psychologically.

We have to look for ways to save money while getting the best for our kids. While you’re looking for other ideas, here are some of the smart tips on how to give your kids the best without spending a lot of money.

Share a nanny or babysitter

Look for a close friend or a neighbor you can trust who also have a toddler or a kid at your age. Instead of paying in full for a nanny, a single nanny could easily handle two kids at the same time. Sharing a nanny means you can slash as much as 50% in paying the nanny. Your kid will also have a constant play date which is also good in increasing his or her self confidence through constant social interaction.

Childcare subsidies

Do your homework and research on childcare subsidies offered by the government. Your city, state and even the federal government offer financial subsidies for childcare. Eligibility is often based on earnings of parents. From that fact alone you will know what type of subsidies you can apply and for.

Church daycare facilities

One of the most affordable places for childcare are church daycare facilities. There are churches who only admit children from their own congregation while others who offer childcare services even those who are non-members of the congregation. These childcare centers also offer financial assistance for further care for your young ones.

Childcare at work

There are large corporations today that has childcare facilities for their employees. If you can find a company that offers these services in you area, you might want to try and work for them. On the other hand, you can ask your boss or the owner of the company you are working for to set up a childcare facility. Your plea will be reasonable when you have workers like you who have kids like you. You might end up paying for the facility but you will still be closer to your kids while you are at work.

Get a flexible schedule

When you and your other half are working, you could arrange your work schedule in a way that someone will always be at home to take care of the kids.

Set up a childcare facility

If you are a single mother, you can save money in childcare and even earn extra by establishing a childcare facility in your home. There are other busy parents who are also looking for this type of facility in your area. Just be sure that you have the right paperwork and licenses before you start your operation.

Pre-kindergarten programs

Public schools that offer kindergarten program often has half-day programs for kids who are not eligible for kindergarten yet. These pre-kindergarten programs are for free and you will have time for yourself as your kids learn something in school.

Set-up a child care spending account

This type of account could be set up with your employer and the IRS. This type of account is a flexible account so you can suggest how much you are going to separate from your earnings that should go to childcare. This special spending account is tax free as it is classified for childcare.
