Go Green while Saving Money

Saving the environment doesn’t have to be very expensive. Most of the time we want to help save the environment but the prices and the time we have to spend in doing our part is just too much that even though we save the environment, we are spending too much in the process. But the awareness for saving the earth and going green is slowly gaining on support and after careful examination, there are actually things that we can do to help save the environment while saving money in the process. Here are some of the ways you could do to save money while going green:

Smarter transportation ideas

The rising cost of fuel constantly makes us think twice if driving a car to get to work is such a good idea. Stretch those muscles and walk or get a bike to get to your ideal destination. Without using any gasoline at all to go places, you’ll not only save hundreds but more than a thousand dollars each month. Carpooling with your neighbors and friends is also a good idea. Instead of each of having to drive their own car, a little adjustment in your lifestyle will save you a huge amount of money in transportation costs.

Good old reduce and reuse

Unfortunately, we can’t just get through the thought of reusing something that could still be used. We have to take a second look at our trash and evaluate things that could be reused. Always think of an option when you throw away something especially when they are made of plastic. When you reuse something, you can save pennies and when you do that constantly, the savings becomes significant. For example, do not use or buy plastic water bottles but if you already have one, reuse the plastic bottles?

When buying or building a home, look for a solar powered alternative – the only problem with solar powered homes is their set-up and initial price. But that’s only at the start. When buying a home, always look for a house that could accommodate as much sun as it could to power your home effectively. The price is not that competitive but the tax breaks that you’ll enjoy every year are very significant. The government is offering great incentives for those who use an alternate source of energy so grab the opportunity and save on your taxes.

Learn how to compost

This will reduce your garbage collection bill at a significant level. When you are able to recycle the non-biodegradable stuff that you have, it’s time to “reuse” the biodegradable by building a compost pit. You might even get rid of the garbage collector altogether by doing this. It will also be a good source of fertilizer for your plants. Also learn the art of using Red Worms. This type of worms has the ability to chew through materials and convert them into high grade fertilizer. You can earn a lot of money from these fertilizers as some people have made this a major source of their income.

Opt for energy friendly gadgets and products

CFL instead of regular fluorescent lights, LCD instead of regular CRT computer monitors are only some of the money saving ideas for your home. You could cut off more than 50% of your electric bill monthly when you use these products. Don’t just buy any batteries but get recyclable batteries. The savings are quite obvious for recyclable batteries and thrown dried up batteries maybe small but they are one of the strongest pollutants of the earth. Always evaluate the energy output of your gadgets and appliances to save more money and use less energy.
