Smart SpendingConvert Your Savings into Cash
We always try to save on our utility bills. Once we realized we are about to be bankrupt because of our debt, we cut the cost of everything that we use in our house. We change our lamps to CFL, never use the phone other for local calls and we only have basic channel in our TVs.
We even dropped our internet connection because we only use them for personal basis and we haven’t been earning anything just because we are online. Because of the cuts we have made, we are expecting a lot of savings when the bill comes next month.
As expected, our bills come out the next month with lowered charges. We are just happy that we actually had to pay less. Now we can really say we are saving money so that we have to fall into a lot of debt and resort to payday loans just to get us through. We continue with our money saving techniques and every month we see the same low charge we expect from the services we get.
Yet with all the savings that we have, we still end up strapped in cash. In the end we are forced to go to a payday loan company just to have that small cash that we could use not for the bills for other things.
The Fallout of Budget
You may want to blame your personal ability to budget your money. But that’s not the case. You can budget your money up to the last penny and you know where the money will go even before you receive them. Every payday you dedicate some percentage of your earnings to your bills, some of it for food and some of them for something extra that we like.
We do this every payday but instead of expecting a smooth life without going to a payday loan company, we still go back to that place again and again.
Change in Lifestyle
The problem actually is not on the way you budget your money but on your lifestyle. Notice people who start out really small in a company and eventually moving out in the corporate ladder. Every time they go up to another position with a better salary, they change something in themselves.
For example, they used to have a regular car in the early 90s. But today, they are driving a very expensive SUV or a sports car since they are already in the managerial position. Because they earn more money, they change their lifestyle.
That is also the same in your situation. In this case however, you didn’t get a promotion but you still earned something additional through your savings. Once you have realized you now have something extra, start doing things that you don’t normally do such as watching two movies in a week instead of one or renting more DVDs because you don’t have any cable connection. Instead of saving money, you are actually transferring some of those savings to another service which will eventually cost you.
Stay in Lifestyle and Keep the Money
If you have made some changes in the services you avail in your home, never change your lifestyle. That’s one of the ways to save money – you are cutting on everything and never replacing one service with another. And if you really want to save, pay your bills like you have paid them before you cut back on costs.
But instead of giving them the extra money keep them to yourself and deposit it in your savings account. That way, you’ll be able to see your actual savings and prevent yourself from going to a payday loan company because your actual savings.
