House HoldSave Money on Electricity
Electricity constitutes more than 50% of our monthly bills. That is why it is very important for us to save electricity as much as we can. Here is some electricity saving tips that you could implement in your home immediately. Although it might not be much but if you calculate them in a long term basis, you’ll be saving a lot of money every month. Adjust the air-conditioning. Two degrees lesser during winter and two degrees higher during summer could save you money without feeling any changes inside your home. You just have to use sweatshirts and go to cool places during extreme heat. Air conditioning is one of the top hordes of electronic consumption and reducing a small amount of it is already a big thing. Every summer, if you think the place is just too much to handle, you can just go to the mall. That’s even better since you can switch off the air conditioning completely and save money.

Switch off your computers when you don’t use them. I am guilty too of this problem and the result is not good. If you are planning to be away from your computer or laptop for two hours or more, be sure to switch them off. I know the main reason why we don’t switch our computers is to preserve the hard drive but technological advancement has made it a point to protect the hard drive from constant switch off and on.
Control the mobile phone charging. Charging your mobile phone will also cost additional bill for electricity. Usually, a completely drained mobile phone only needs two hours for charging (six to eight hours if they are brand new). Be sure to time your mobile phone charging and remove them as soon as the battery charge is complete.
Regulate the hot water in washing machine. It’s not just the technology and gadgets that have made tremendous leap of improvement but in our detergents as well. Any detergent today could easily clean your dirty clothes even if you don’t use hot water on them. Use only hot water when you are washing a really dirty batch of clothes. For best results, you can still stick to your preferred branded product. You won’t even notice the difference.
Consider using Solar Power. The sun fortunately is a massive source of energy and because of the popularity with government support of this practice, setting this up is not as expensive anymore. Think of this: you only have to pay once for buying and setting up the system and then you can use its almost unlimited power. Although some of the products might not be handled by solar power, you can power all the lights and small electronics in your house with Solar Power. Some states also offer tax cuts for those whose house is solar powered.
When no one is home, unplug everything. Switching our televisions off through the remote control is very convenient the red light that you see on televisions that are constantly on still consumes electricity even though how small they are. Some are thinking that their TV settings will be lost if they unplug it but I don’t think the TV settings are worth the money that you have to pay every month.

Use CFL (Compact Fluorescent Light). It’s a proven fact that CFLs reduces your light consumption up to 75%. You’re slashing more than half of your electronic bill on lights. It’s a bit expensive compared to regular bulbs but the savings is tremendous that it’s always worth it and it works the same and sometimes better than regular bulbs.
