Home Improvement10 Tips to Save Money on Home Theaters
A home theater system is one of the most expensive home projects anyone would have. Large screen television, better audio system and the latest in video and audio technology is often the requirement for a decent home theater system. This means you'll have to spend thousands of dollars in order to purchase these products. Installation is even a separate charge.
But there are small tricks in establishing a home theater system that you can use so that these can help you save money. These tips may not be able to help you save on some of your purchases now but will still help you save money in the long run.
1. Consider LED TV - the latest technology is usually the most expensive but very energy efficient. LED TV was just introduced by various manufacturers worldwide and they easily defeat LCD TV in terms of energy consumption.
2. Avoid large screen projectors - A decent projector will cost from $300 to $400. But even though they promise savings, maintenance of these projectors can be very expensive. The bulb that comes with the projector will not last forever which means you may have to replace them from time to time.
3. Get the right audio system - a home theater will never be able to provide a good experience if they don't provide great sounds. But achieving great audio doesn't mean you have to purchase the most expensive. Search for speakers that can cover the room instead of searching for the biggest speakers you can afford.
4. Be conservative on cables - your home theater system will never work if you don't have the right cable. But you don't have to purchase the most expensive cable you can find. While it's not recommended to purchase the cheapest (and bad looking) look for average cables that can be more affordable but enough quality to support your theater system.
5. Compare prices - the age old trick of comparing prices for the devices you need in your home theater still works. Visit various home appliance shops in your area and online to get the best prices on the products you want to purchase.
6. Go for green - many companies are competing not just in the specs and prices of their home theater system but also on how they can help the environment in their own way. Search for manufacturers that can help you save money not only on the product price but also in power consumption.
7. Check the electrical wirings for your home theater - those savings you have in your home system will not matter if your home theater system will be destroyed because of power problem. Check if the power surge in your home theater system is stable to prevent costly damage.
8. DIY on Soundproofing your Home Theater - you don't have to hire a professional to achieve complete soundproofing of your room. Acoustic or egg crate foams should be more than enough to help you soundproof your room without any professional assistance.
9. Use digital screen paint - a simple but smart alternative to projector screens is to purchase screen paints. They offer a more stable screen since it will use your wall and they don't cost as much as mounted projector screens.
10. Seek help only when necessary - a home theater is relatively easy to set-up because cables and wall mounts are easier to install. Only seek help if you have done everything in your end but you still end up unsatisfied with your work. By seeking help when necessary, you'll be able to prevent too much spending on home theater installation.
