Staying on a Budget is a Daily Battle

You all read online and in other print materials sob stories of individuals who were not able to control their debt which has led them to bankruptcy. They usually end up with a very meager job with a single room apartment even though they are a family.

Sometimes you would think that it’s not their fault but they were reckless with their finances. In the end, they lost everything they have and starting over is very difficult. You can’t do anything for them but just wish them the best.

On the other hand, there are individuals who were able to overcome the challenges of bankruptcy and were able to successfully rise from complete financial meltdown. Their success stories are very inspiring and should be emulated by everyone.

If you have read their story, you will always notice that there is always a on-going struggle to save as much as they can. It’s not just about the monthly budget with a goal of saving enough money for the future; it’s a daily battle that should be won continuously to ensure victory against financial troubles.

Overcoming the “Monthly” Mentality

There are many tips that you see online and in financial books that you have to set a good monthly budget. That is highly commendable as long as you stick to the plan. But that type of planning may not fit to everyone since it teaches you to think about your finances once a month, when all the bills have to be paid. That way of thinking will usually encourage you to forget about your financial troubles and just face them every time another bill comes.

Actually this is not your fault. We grew up in an economy suggested by credit cards. Everything that we would like to buy is bought with a credit card. Consumers doesn’t really care the interest rate of their credit cards as long as they can use them and just pay them up at the end of the month if they can with their salary. That’s where all the trouble comes from. If you read the story of those who are bankrupt, their stories usually revolve around the excessive use of credit cards until the interest rate caught up with them. Before they know it, they can’t even pay for the interest rate and chip a small percentage off of their principal debt.

Daily Financial Battle

If you want to get out of your financial woes fast, don’t wait until the end of the month so that you can balance the budget and start over in your efforts to save money. Everyday you have to make an extra effort to save a cent on meal, a dollar on your electric bill or anything that could help you in saving money. If you go on recklessly in doing your regular daily routine and wonder why you can’t save anything at the end of the month, you’ll end up broke fast.

The best way to ensure that you are on a battle mode for saving on a daily basis is to discard that credit card. That’s the sole reason why you suspend on thinking of savings because the card is just too easy to use. If you use cash, you’ll know how much you will save and how much you will have to spend. It could take a month or two but if you’re patient, you’ll see the savings which will definitely make you feel content. This will also become the fuel and motivation to continue your struggle to save as much as you can for your future. It’s not an easy feat so you just have to fight the financial war everyday.
