Economic EducationHow to Harness Your Child's Potential Skills
It the responsibility of the parents to prepare their children to help them face the real world. Often parents fail to prepare their children for adulthood. They neither save money for their college education nor bother to teach them the importance of finance.
Your children should be thought of as investments; when you take the time to prepare them for the real world early on, the return that you will get once they become adults, they turn out to be responsible and confident adults capable able of leading a balanced life.
Tiger Woods is a great example of someone whose parents invested heavily in him. Once his parents discovered his natural abilities in golf, they harnessed it by giving him lessons and allowing him to compete in tournaments. Today this investment has paid off, as Tiger Woods is a professional golfer who has earned close to $1 billion.
Alexandra Kosteniuk, who is the current grandmaster of women's chess, was taught the game by her father when she was only five years old. The Williams sisters, who have both become champions in tennis, reached this level as a result of their father putting an enormous amount of time and effort into making them champions.
What do all these individuals have in common? Their parents all took the time to invest in them, teaching them valuable skills which they could use as adults to become success stories in their respective fields. Most parents today are not like the parents of these individuals.
They have children, and then do not bother to teach them anything other than the basics. They sit back and wait for the public school system to teach their kids everything they know. Some parents do not even bother to put away money for their kids to attend college once they reached the age of 18. Such children end up taking out loans just to attend school.
In order for your child to succeed you must prepare them. The earlier you do this, the better. How skilled would your child be with languages if you started teaching them when they are still babies? The answer is that they would be highly skilled, and capable of speaking with fluency.
Learning a foreign language opens up many doors which otherwise would be closed. For example, if your child can speak German very well, this means that they can find work in Germany. If they speak Spanish, they can travel anywhere in Latin America and easily converse with people. Knowing critical foreign languages could allow your child to earn a very handsome income as a translator.
The wise and prudent parent will determine their child's gifts early on, and will urge them to enter a field where these gifts can be fully manifested. If your child has a natural gift with numbers, then you should gear them towards a field which is closely related to mathematics or logic.
If they are athletic, you should begin tailoring them towards a field where these gifts can be manifested. No matter what, you should be able and willing to spend the money which is necessary for them to become skilled long before they become adults. While this does not mean that your child should not have a childhood, it does mean that you must put in lots of effort to ensure they are ready for the real world.
Success never comes easy, and it is even harder to achieve when you come from a background where you have not been given much support by your parents. Once you have a child, your life is no longer as important as the child is.
You must put aside your own goals and aspirations and focus on helping your child achieve their own. At the very least, you should begin saving money for their future education, and you should invest as much as you can in them to ensure that they are ready to face the real world.
The real world is very competitive. You need to prepare your child to face the tough challenges. Once your child is out on his/her own, they must understand that hardly anyone they meet will have their best interests in mind. To succeed, your child must understand how to deal with people, and how to use power and strategy to get the things they want.
If your child is incapable of understanding human psychology and dealing with people, it is unlikely that they will become a success. This is a rule that cannot be overemphasized. Your child must understand the game of power in order to thrive in a cold and cruel world.
